Interview me!

Skyblue reverie interviewed me! Here's the meme:
001. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
002. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
003. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
004. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
005. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
Skyblue's Questions:
1. Do you identify more as a writer or an artist? Which would you rather be identified as?
Definitely as an artist. I enjoy writing, especially when I need to blow off some stress, but I still feel a bit under confident in my abilities. I've been an artist since before I can remember. I've taken classes in it, and even considered majoring in it. Maybe as time goes on, I might consider myself both.
For all of these reasons, I would prefer to be identified as an artist, at least in RL. I understand that most people online would rather read a story than look at a picture, so it doesn't bother me if most people do identify me as a writer here.
2. What is the most daring or dangerous thing you've ever done?
Trust in myself. It was rather an eye opener the day that I realized that I simply wasn't trusting my own instincts and decision making capacities. It was the reason that I neglected to apply for any colleges, and simply drifted over to a junior college at the start of the 2003 semester. I hadn't trusted myself to be in charge of a choice of that magnitude. I think that realizing that I'm the only person who can truly run my life, and then taking steps to do so, was the bravest thing I've ever done.
That, and one time I did a flip off of my mom and dad's bed. :)
3. If you could meet Hugh Laurie and ask him one question and you'd be guaranteed a truthful answer, what would you ask?
I would ask him if there was a secret to his success. He's been successful as an dramatic actor, a writer, a comedian, a musician, and likely about a dozen other things. Was he truly born with this much talent, and if not, how did he go about developing it over his life?
No, wait. That would be the second question. The first would be, has he ever slept with Stephen Fry, and yes, I need a detailed account.
4. What is the one skill or talent that you most wish you had and why?
I would like to be more athletic. I feel very blessed with the talents I have already (God, that sounds arrogant, but I think you know what I'm getting at), but all of them are in sit down activities, like art. I want to be good at sports and enjoy them more, if for no other reason than it would keep me healthy. Ever since I was about 11, I've been a bit heavy. I wouldn't go so far as to call myself fat, but I'm not happy with my weight, and not for aesthetic reasons. I'm worried that if I don't take up a more active lifestyle, I could become unhealthy.
5. If your closest family and friends had to pick one word to describe you, what word do you think would be chosen most often? Would you agree with that assessment?
Flighty. I'm not sure that it's the word that best describes me, but I don't disagree with it. I am flighty. I'm forever forgetting to pick things up from the store, or forgetting to read the fine print, stuff like that (hence, "Disaster in Details"). If I could choose my own word, and add a few more, I'd also put kind, clumsy, soft-spoken, smart (a bit, anyhow), loves to make people laugh, awful speller, creative, shy, and laid back.

Date: 2006-10-16 12:25 am (UTC)I think it's wonderful that you've learned to trust yourself. That's a really hard thing to do - it is daring, and I still struggle with it myself. So, go you!
Oh, and nothing in here sounds the least bit arrogant. :)

Date: 2006-10-16 12:33 am (UTC)You know, of all the things you could ask Hugh Laurie, I thought that just *might* be your choice too. Wouldn't it just be the greatest thing if he said "yes," and we got to grill him on all of the sexy little details? I'd need you around to help me think up questions, of course. :)

Date: 2006-10-16 07:16 pm (UTC)I owe you an email, hon, and I swear I'll get to it soon, but this afternoon and tomorrow morning are absolutely insane for me at work, so it might possibly be tomorrow afternoon before I can get to it. I'll try to get to it as soon as I can. :)
Hope you're having a good day!
