It's baaaaack!

So…Supernatural.



It’s not that I was unhappy with it. It’s that it wasn’t what I was expecting. At all. At ALL. Okay. Fine. I was a little unhappy with it.

I know that Supernatural is a dark show. I know that it’s usually a horrible pit of despair. But I still love it, because in that pit of despair are two guys who always grin into the face of evil and stand by each other, no matter what. But that’s changing. Sam and Dean are lying to one another. Sam is choosing the side of demons, while Dean is being recruited by angles with cheesy wing effects. And I have a sinking feeling that this season will end with the two of them more apart than ever, and I’m not sure I can deal with that.

I need to let this one sit for a while. In the episode's defense, it was very slashy. But in a way where I sense Sam and Dean’s relationship might be falling to pieces, which breaks my heart.

Honestly? It felt joyless.

The good: Sam/Dean Hugs, Dean/Bobby hugs, Dean shirtlessness, Sam/Dean handholding, the iPod in the Impala, implied brother threesome suggestion, Sam and Dean staying in a hotel room with mirrors on the ceiling, Sam pulling an Obi-Wan on a demon.

The bad: The overall tone, the OMG this is depressing tone! Sam going evil. Cheesy angel wings. That weird line about perky nipples.

Any thoughts?

I totally agree with the whole brothers-apart thing. Like, okay, Dean's going to fight what he thinks is the uber-demon? WHY NOT BRING HIS BROTHER, even if just for an extra hand?

Ugh. Overall, I was about 99.9% squee. But that 0.1% is like, WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN? THEY'D BETTER NOT HAVE A SHOWDOWN!!!

So, overall, did you enjoy the episode? After an hour's reflection, I've decided that I mostly enjoyed it. I wish there had been more cute Dean oneliners, but I guess we're gonna have to wait until he's feeling a little more himself.

Overall, I loved it. I was clapping and grinning at the screen like a moron.

If Kripke wrote that into the show, or at least did something ambiguous that I could totally take as buttsecks, I would be the happiest fan in the world.

I agree - there could've been more of Dean's lines, but at the same time I think too much humour would be a little wacko. Hey, I just got out of hell... KNOCK KNOCK WHO'S THERE KEITH KEITH WHO KEITH ME I JUST GOT OUT OF HELL!

Only they'd probably be better than that. But whatever.

I didn't so much see it as Sam going evil. More like Sam using his powers for good and not telling Dean about it because he knows how he'll react to the whole psychic powers thing. Not to mention Ruby being alive.

I know his powers seemed like they were for good, but I'm still worried. Sam's fraternizing with demons and using powers demonic in origin, and hiding it all from Dean. That's...kinda dark for Sam.

I also thought it was interesting that Sam mentioned that he tried several times to make a deal with crossroad demons, and the line just kinda went by the wayside. I expected Dean to flip at him when he said that, but he just let it go. Because he understood.

I refuse to believe that the brothers will be separated because that will make me cry. I choose to believe it's just buildup. and I really loved the episode. But yes, every time they were apart I was freaking out.

I know, and I hope, hope, HOPE that you're right. Actually, this show certainly knows how to cater to the fans, and fans want Sam and Dean together (some a little more than others :) ). So you're probably right, in the long run, they'll be together.

I honestly expected tonight that Sam wouldn't let Dean out of his sight after everything, so when Sam went after the demons and left sleeping Dean alone, I yelled at my TV.

And why was Dean so reluctant to take out three demons in the diner who were afraid of him? Leftover hell trama? A show about two demon hunters where one of them is afraid of demons could be interesting.

...I wanna watch it again. The more I think of it, the more I liked it.
