Okay, so seeing Iron Man One has to be one of my all time favorite movie going experiences. The kind of thing that someone remembers fondly outside of the quality of the movie. Skyblue_reverie was in town that day, and we drove up to Austin, and saw it at the Alamo City Draft House, after waiting for two hour in a bar across the street. She tried to teach me to play gin, I sort of followed the game, and then we went in and got to see an episode of the cheesy, terribly animated, horribly racist Iron Man cartoon from the 60s. Good times. And, of course, the movie was awesome, and made me fall in love with RDJ forever.

There was pretty much no way that tonight was going to match that level of perfection.

But it tried. Lord, it did try. And it was so shiny.

I could talk about how great the dialogue is, or how kick ass Black Widow was during her fight scenes, or the car race, or the fact that I actually *wanted* Tony and Pepper to hook up, or the awesomeness of Whiplash, or War Machine, or Nick Fury, but I don’t want to bore you. I could complain about the plot holes, or the scene or two that came close to delving into embarrassing (the birthday party scene had me pretty close to cringing, and would have been unbearable in the hands of a lesser actor), but I wouldn’t want to deter you away from a great movie. So I’ll just say that it was well worth the 15$ a ticket + hour long wait in a jam packed line full of comic book geeks.

Speaking of which, I so love watching movies with my fellow nerds. There was one guy decked out in full costume (his was of the cheap plastic and cloth variety, held together by one of those little ribbons in the back), and tons of Iron Man arc reactor shirts. And all of them whooped and cheered and clapped and had a blast. Two moments in particular (the Captain America nod and Tony’s secret weapon against the droids) had them applauding, and leaping to their feet.

Don’t wait to see this one. It’s a great time.

Not reading the vaguely spoiler-y part of the entry but just wanted to drop in to *hug* you for the other part. We've got some great memories from our times together, don't we? ♥

Yay! Thanks for coming in, bravely risking spoilers. *hugs* We have had some awesome times together. But then, anytime we spend together is special, even if it's just hanging out.
